Splitter helps you split receipts and settle up with friends, on the web and in the Splitter iPhone app. This page explains what information Splitter keeps, why, and how to delete it. The short version: we only keep what the app needs to work, we don't sell it, and there are no ads or trackers.
What we collect
Your account. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive your name, email address and (with Google) your profile photo. If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we only see the private relay address Apple gives us.
What you enter.Splits, items, prices, tax and tip, the names of the people you split with, days, who paid, tags, groups and favorite people. The names you type are just labels — the people you add don't get an account and we don't contact them.
Receipt photos. When you scan a receipt, the photo is sent to Google's Gemini API to read the items and prices. Splitter does not save the photo — only the items you end up adding.
Sign-in sessions. To keep you signed in we store a session with your device's IP address and browser/app type, which expires on its own.
How we use it
Only to run Splitter: saving your splits and days, showing them on your devices, and calculating who owes what. We don't sell your information, show ads, or use analytics or tracking tools.
Sharing
A split or day is only visible to others if you share its link. Anyone with a share link can view that split or day (not edit your account).
Splitter runs on a few services that handle data on our behalf: Vercel (hosting), Neon (database), Google (sign-in and receipt reading) and Apple (sign-in).
Deleting your data
You can delete your account at any time in the app: Profile → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and everything you created — splits, days, tags, groups and favorites — and any share links stop working. You can also email us and we'll do it for you.
Children
Splitter isn't directed at children under 13.
